Epsilon Omega Chapter   -   Region VII   -   Section 45

Who Are We?

Alpha Phi Omega is a national co-ed service fraternity that encourages volunteerism and supports the development of student leaders. In addition to service, we have numerous events during the semester to promote friendship and brotherhood within the chapter and with members at other campuses. The Ole Miss chapter is in a rebuilding phase—a large number of members graduated at the same time—so we have a unique opportunity to shape our chapter for the future.

Our organization provides both leadership training and the chance to take on leadership roles, ranging from chairing a service project to holding positions on our chapter's executive committee. At the national level, we participate in workshops designed to train interested members in leadership, team building skills, and project management.

Alpha Phi Omega hosts a wide variety of informal social events here at Ole Miss, ranging from potlucks to movie nights to sports to hiking to roller skating...and we hope to have even more as we grow! We also typically have an awards banquet at the end of each semester, and try to visit other chapters in Louisiana and Mississippi at least once each semester.

One of our goals is to provide students with a choice of volunteer opportunities—it gives us a chance to try something new or different while getting support from friends along the way. We work with a wide variety of other organizations in Oxford and around the Mid-South, including:
- Green Grove Campaign
- Boy Scouts of America
- 4-H
- Salvation Army
- Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society
- Oxford Community Garden

We also provide support for various events and groups around Oxford (such as 5K runs, festivals, and seasonal events like Adopt-A-Basket) and host our own unique events. In past spring semesters, we've hosted a sports day for local youth, giving them a chance to play kickball against Ole Miss athletes. Last fall, we hosted Pocket Change for Puppies, a fundraiser for the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society.

Our service program is constantly growing and changing; please see our calendar for upcoming service projects.

We have also done projects on long weekends with organizations further away, most recently with Serve Green and Camp Hope in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana for Martin Luther King Day 2010. We hope to have future "road trip" service projects with them and other organizations, including Hands On Mississippi and different Habitat For Humanity chapters, to help with the ongoing restoration of the coast and its communities.
