RECRUITMENT REGISTRATION FOR PANHELLENIC 2011 IS CLOSED. Recruitment registration for 2012 will open May 14th, 2012.
There is currently no GPA requirement to participate in formal recruitment set by the University of Mississippi. This does not, however, apply to the chapters' individual requirements to extend a bid. The chapter average to extend a bid is a 3.0 GPA. Women who have below a 3.0 GPA are advised that they are at a greater risk to be released from the process. With the amount of women that go through the formal recruitment process, GPA tends to be an easy way for the chapters to begin to manage the numbers. Being released from recruitment or receiving a bid through the process is due to a wide variety of factors that are ultimately up to the chapters. GPA is only one of those factors, but there is much weight placed on GPA. To reiterate, women with below a 3.0 are at a greater risk of release. Women who have below a 3.0 GPA are advised to participate in the formal recruitment process the following year after taking a year to get acclimated to the University and achieving in the classroom.
Formal Recruitment is generally held first semester of each school year. This year, 2011, over 1,200 women signed up to participate in formal recruitment, our largest group of women ever! Recruitment is a fun filled week that begins on a Wednesday and continues through until Bid Day on Sunday. As well, Water Party occurs a few weeks before recruitment, which gives the women interested in joining a Panhellenic sorority the opportunity to see the chapter houses before all the decorations are adorned for formal recruitment and get to meet the women on a more casual basis. Overall, recruitment is a fun week in which the women going through the process get to experience a taste of sorority life and the chapters get to meet their potential new members! If you're interested joining a sorority, please check in with the website on May 14th to register for formal recruitment! |
