How To Start an Organization

New Registered Student Organization Checklist:

  • Secure an advisor. An advisor must be a full-time faculty or staff member, chaplain/clergy and/or an officer in an ROTC unit.
  • Go to www.orgsync.com
  • Click “Sign In/Sign Up”
  • Click “Sign In With Campus ID” (the site may skip over this to step 4)
  • From “Select Your Community” search for and select “University of Mississippi”
  • From the UM Authentication Form enter your UM webID (not the entire email address) and password just as you would logging into My Ole Miss.
  • If this is your first time logging into MSync, you will be prompted to complete your personal profile.
  • From the main MSync dashboard, click on “Browse Organizations”
  • Click on the big green button that says “Register New Organization”
  • Complete all the required components of the form. You must be sure to: provide accurate contact information for your officers and your faculty/staff advisor; upload a roster of your members with a minimum of 5 people (including names, UM email addresses, and ID #’s); and upload a copy of your constitution (see attached constitution checklist).
  • Complete and submit the registration form. You will get an automatic email confirming that your form was submitted.

Your request will be reviewed by a member of our staff, but your approval will be pending until you have attended an RSO Orientation. You cannot reserve space on campus, host events, or apply for ASB funding until and unless you are an approved RSO.
